Roofing, storm repair, gutters, and exterior work for homes across Lancaster County, from our base in Gordonville.
Lancaster County is home. We’re based on Old Philadelphia Pike in Gordonville, and most of what we do is here in the county: roofs, storm repairs, gutters, and the trim, soffit, and siding that go with them. If the house is past the county line, tell us where it is. We take on projects in surrounding areas by arrangement.
Houses here range from stone farmhouses and brick twins in the city to newer developments, and they get weather from every direction: hail and wind in the summer, then snow and ice that backs up at the eaves. Every project starts with a visit to the house. We look at the roof and the exterior, tell you plainly what we found and what we’d recommend, and write the scope down before any work starts. When the job is done, we walk it with you.
After a storm, we document the damage, meet the adjuster at the house, and work toward a scope that covers what the home actually needs. We can’t promise what an insurer will approve, but you won’t be handling the claim alone.
RYDGE Construction was formerly JMA Exteriors. Same company, new name.
Questions, answered
What to know before work begins
Do you work outside Lancaster County?
Most of our work is in Lancaster County. We take on projects in surrounding areas by arrangement, so include the address when you reach out and we’ll let you know.
Is RYDGE Construction the same company as JMA Exteriors?
Yes. JMA Exteriors is now RYDGE Construction. Same company, new name. If we worked on your house as JMA Exteriors, you can reach us through this site.
A storm just came through. What should I do first?
Stay off the roof. Take dated photos from the yard and inside, cover any opening if you can do it safely, and keep the receipts. Then ask us for an inspection. We’ll tell you plainly whether it looks like storm damage before you decide what to do about a claim.
Should I repair my roof or replace it?
It depends on the roof’s age and how far the wear has spread. Trouble in one spot on a younger roof is usually a repair. Wear across several sections, soft decking, or a third repair in a few years usually points to a replacement. We’ll show you what we found and give you a straight answer.
Why do I get ice dams in the winter?
Ice dams usually trace back to attic insulation and airflow, not the shingles. When we replace a roof, a self-sealing membrane goes on at the eaves and in the valleys, and intake and exhaust ventilation are set so the attic can breathe.
